October 24

Students used the first 30 minutes of class to read, annotate, and respond to today's article of the week in their writer's notebooks. They used the remaining time to read independently.

Today's article: "High Schools to TikTok: We're Catching Feelings" (Can I add that I never thought I'd ever write a sentence like that in my teaching career?)

We wrapped up our reading of Oedipus Rex and clarified any remaining questions. Students worked in groups to complete questions 5, 9, 10, 14, 17, & 18 on the "Messenger from Corinth" handout and questions 4, 8, 9, 13, 14, & 15 on the "Unraveling the Mystery" handout.

I introduced the next play, Antigone, with an explanation of the battle of Thebes that was the catalyst for Antigone's actions in the play.
